Matt Jackson

My whole life I have felt the need to be creative, whether in drawing, painting, photography or diving into the mechanical.  That creativity has consistently been a driving force both personally and what I’ve pursued professionally.   Growing up in Texas and having the opportunity to spend time on some of the great ranch land and on the coast, has influenced my lifestyle and my art.  Having the chance to sit down with some of the great Texas artists has also been a wonderful experience in learning more about the art world.  I graduated from Texas Tech in 2000 with a degree in architecture.  A few years after that I was bitten by the travel bug and was fortunate to have a job in television/video where I traveled for close to 8 years and throughout that time built a library of photography that I now pull from in part to inspire my paintings.  One of the great dilemmas of my life while fishing is do I grab the rod or the camera.  Most of the time I choose the camera.  In painting, my mediums of choice are watercolor and acrylics.  I primarily focus on landscapes, seascapes, and interesting subjects that I’ve seen along the way.        Jackson Art + Media is built on a foundation of traditional paintings, however, that ever present need to be creative will allow my artwork to take different forms and avenues of inspiration.   I hope you will find your inspiration on this site as well.
